There has been a tremendous improvement in the network of domestic airlines within Tanzania over the last few years especially between major tourist centres.

For visitors with limited time flying is the best way to see the country. Having said this some of the schedule services only run a few days a week and therefore in planning your itinerary we will have these days in mind.

If we cannot work out suitable flight connections to suit your itinerary there is a comprehensive range of private air charters which may be needed to complete your journey.

By Air
Kenya Airways offers a service from Nairobi – Kilimanjaro and several other carriers now offer routes between the two hubs of Dar es Salaam and Arusha to various safari destinations and beach resorts.

For those who prefer to travel by road to see more of the countryside the main safari circuit of Northern Tanzania can be visited by tour bus or landcruisers.

Be warned whilst there are a few modern tarmac roads around Arusha, Kilimanjaro and Dar, in the rest of the country there are few roads and most driving is on unmade gravel roads or off road.

Distances travelled are large, so when planning an itinerary we will have this in mind and suggest overnight stops to break the journey.

By rail
For the budget traveller buses and local trains are available but the service is erratic and unreliable and not something we can recommend.
